Kayaking

It’s Official

20140123-_MG_9419Okay, it’s finally official, I’ve plunked down the entry fee and registered for the 2014 Everglades Challenge. At the top of this page there’s a link for the Everglades Challenge and plenty of info there as to what it is and where to find even more info.

But I have to tell you, it was nerve-wracking to hit that “Pay Now” button! Not only is there a huge physical commitment, but there’s a fairly hefty financial commitment as well. While I already have most of the required gear, there are quite a few smaller items left to acquire that threaten to nickle-and-dime me to death. I’ve sat on the fence long enough wondering if I will truly be ready and have finally come to the conclusion that a “Did Not Finish” is better than a “Did Not Start”. Since I do not foresee the opportunity to do this again for several years it’s time to bust arse and make it happen!

The fine folks at QuestAir Hang Gliding in Groveland, Florida have generously donated a couple Discovery Tandem Flights towards my fund raising efforts! Wow, a sponsor—now I HAVE to finish that damned race 😉 Please take a minute and check out their sponsor page on this site and then the official QuestAir website. I’ll have the QuestAir decals for the boat soon and will post pics.
