Why FlyingFox? Probably because it brings so many ideas to mind. In another life, long ago and far away, I was a pilot. The first thing that jumps to my mind is a red fox with a white silk flying scarf á la Snoopy and the Red Baron. In reality, a flying fox is a type of fruit bat. But the really unusual thing about this bat (other than it’s enormous size) is that it’s sighted. And to be honest, without my contacts, I’m blind as a bat! So there it is, FlyingFox Photography.
This is my personal site, it’s here as a vehicle for me to share my passion for photography and maybe even support my habit. It also provides the push I sometimes need to get out there and shoot during those times that I’m so busy that I have to book an appointment just to breathe. It doesn’t always work. With the new iteration of the site, it’s also a way for me to tell the stories behind some of the images, use photo essays to tell stories themselves, and to occasionally share thoughts on things not related to photography by deeply important to me.
